I have never liked the reds as wedding colours. To me, the burgundies, merlots, cherries and maroons scream "SAFE." They seem to be an easy pick when it comes to many British weddings.
But....having said that, some of the colour schemes where post-box red is incorporated amongst others, work really well and I actually love them! So I'm going to have to eat my hat here and let you know that red may be a colour that is considered with relation to our wedding. I NEVER thought I'd say that (what a colour snob!)....
